The Dream of a Healthy India ... Come True Saving Village... Changing Lives...
Livelihood Programme

A majority of the poor people especially women have insecure livelihoods. Self Help Groups are incorporated that these rural women are incorporated into developmental processes by undertaking an economic activity suited to their skills and resources. Empowering and promoting women’s leadership in rural villages and urban slums through conferences, training, rallies, legal aid and small business loans is one of our major priorities. For economic self reliance, members of women’s Self Help Groups are encouraged to promote savings and credit project which they themselves are able to administer and maintain. Through regular leadership training and monthly meetings, women are encouraged to develop an ability to analyse their situations, develop skills, and plan for the future. Group participants improve the financial status of their households by developing linkages with financial institutions and accessing micro-credit. Besides mobilising social groups to interact with government authorities, the Programme also aims at addressing the social issues in health and education.

Empowerment Of Women

Self Help Groups of women in India have been recognized as an effective strategy for the empowerment of women in rural as well as urban areas i.e. bringing women together from all spheres of life to fight for their rights or a cause. Since the overall empowerment of women is crucially dependant on economic empowerment, women through these SHG’s work on a range of issues such as health, nutrition, agriculture, forestry etc, besides income generation activities and seeking micro-credit. Special emphasis is being laid on the formation of women Self Help Groups, which usually consist of 10-12 members.

Diversification Of Livelihood Options

The Foundation is laying focus on diversification of livelihood options through skill & capacity building, based on available human and natural resources. Various courses which include vocational training in carpentry, tailoring, automobile repairing, poultry farming, masonry and driving are being conducted to facilitate self-employment.
