GID Club
IIPM leads by example when it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility. IIPM’s CSR initiative is the world’s largest CSR initiative undertaken by any B-School globally. All IIPM students compulsorily as a part of their programme, have to spend two weeks working for GIDF in various slums/villages of India. Therefore just like IIPM students are given the No 1 global exposure amongst all B-Schools in India, they are also given the No 1 social work exposure in India. Though unfortunately none of the B-School rankings have this as a criteria to judge a B-School.

Living To Put Up A Smile
The GID club at IIPM has been formed wherein students get a chance to believe in self –actualization. This is where they work to make a difference in the life of others. The kind of activities we take up requires uncommon dedication to strive for social reform and that is exactly what the members of this club excel at.

Our first event for the year was organized in the Delhi campus on the 13th of February, 2012 and was coined as – Living To Put Up A Smile. Where our motive was to bring about a smile on the little cherubic faces that otherwise don’t have many reasons to smile. ACM GIDF, the foundation behind this club has been implementing various programmes in the field of education, livelihood, health & environment. Through its educational initiatives, they have been working for the welfare of children belonging to the vulnerable section of the society. Therefore we had invited the pre-schoolers to the campus where the IIPM students had organized a fun day for them and let love spread with the vote of humanity and peace, on the eve of Valentines Day.

The event started with the children being welcomed to the venue with balloons. Refreshments prepared by the students itself was distributed amongst our little guests. An interactive session on Origami was conducted by Prof. Angshuman Paul followed by a play performed by the students. The first play was about a donkey and his animal friends while the next was about Charlie Chaplin, Mickey Mouse and baby elephant who taught the children a lesson on following the path of truthfulness.

The children seemed very excited and happy during the whole event and even actively participated in all the games like sack race, hit & drop, spoon race and tug of war that were organized for them. Most of the students also seemed attracted to the tattoo station where they got beautiful designs made on their wrists. Even the music played during the event like the title track of Mowgli and others rhymes etc. perfectly matched the theme of the event. Lunch was served to the children which also included a small quiz competition. The day was called off once the prizes were given away to the winners and gifts were distributed to each and every child as a token of appreciation on behalf of the students. Not only that, hand made gifts items were presented to the teachers who has accompanied the children on that day.

Children’s Day 2011
In India, Children's Day is celebrated on 14 November every year, the birthday of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru (Uncle Nehru) by the kids, emphasized the importance of giving love and affection to children, who he saw as the bright future of India.

Even at ACM GIDF, children happen to be our pride. Be it our little toddlers from the Early Childhood Development Programme or the youth who are being trained by us in various vocations across India. Our effort has always been to make them feel special, but on Children’s day it is much more than that.

This year, we even had the participation of students from IIPM, New Delhi’s GID club who had conducted the “Have A Heart” event which started with a donation drive & then fun activities like coloring & dancing competition followed by distribution of delicious goodies for our children, in the learning centers itself.

Children in Mumbai participated in a fancy dress competition, cut a cake in class, saw a movie shown by the Maulik Films Society & were then given handmade flowers by the class teachers as a token of her love for them. In the same way, students in Hyderabad also participated in the fancy dress & sports competition and the most obedient and regular student was given the award of the Best Student.

In Bengaluroo, the educator spoke to the children about Pandit Nehru & then sweets were distributed in the class. Whereas in Pune, the children were taken to a park and played games there. Lastly,in Kolkata they participated in a cultural programme organized by the staff & also were given gifts at the end of the event.

Love abounds
IIPM & GIDF in association with GID club conducted ‘Love abounds’ on 14th February 2011. The event was organized keeping in mind the enthusiastic and passionate youth at IIPM. As Valentine’s is an annual commemoration of celebrating love and affection between two loving hearts, this year IIPM decided to give a new direction to the meaning of valentines day by celebrating and inviting the less fortunate children from age group 3-6 years of GIDF to campus on 14th February 2011.

IIPM decided to make this day as memorable as possible .The main motive was to propagate the feeling of love and sensitivity in the hearts of our students for the children and help them know the other side of sharing love and joy by bringing a smile on a child’s face. This unique IIPM approach to the festival of love resulted in innovative games like Paired Musical chair & Painting Competition for the little children whereas the IIPMite’s participated in games like Frozen river, Love is Blind & Propose your valentine in Bollywood style & Paper dance competition, which took place in the IIPM cafeteria, beautifully decked with balloons, ribbons and streamers. It was exciting to hear the cheering of crowd getting louder and louder as every activity unfolded. Ravinder Nandal and Jasleen Saini were crowned as Mr. & Ms. Valentine of the day.

The event was a huge hit as the entire IIPM fraternity played, rejoiced and swayed to the tunes of the best of Bollywood numbers with these innocent souls. Other than providing these acquitted minds with emotional support, IIPMite’s also provided these uncut diamonds with fabulous toys, interesting books, colourful clothes and mouth watering eats etc in the best possible manner one could.

The student committee of GID club at IIPM showed their love for humanity by participating in the donation drive conducted a few days prior to Valentine’s Day , where they were asked to donate anything that they wished to. Section FE-1 was awarded the most philanthropic class as they had managed to get maximum gifts for the children ,followed by section FD1 ,FD2 & FE2.

IIPM has always done things in its own unique way, something which others follow later, our celebration of Valentine’s Day, reaffirmed our reputation.

GID club initiative - Diwali event for less privileged children
We Share Because We Care
1st to 3rd November 2010

This time, on behalf of the GID Club, the IIPM students organized a Diwali event starting from 1st November, 2010 till 3rd November, 2010. These days were especially dedicated for the less-privileged but special kids.

On the first two days of the event, we had set up a counter and named it “I SHARE”, wherein students were invited and informed about this beautiful event. It was remarkable to notice that students were willing to listen to us and the amazing part was that we were able to collect gifts around Rs. 12000 and cash around Rs. 6000, which was also used for purchasing more gifts for the little ones. All the items, like Cadbury Celebrations et al, were gift wrapped especially for the occasion of Diwali. Some students also gifted puzzle boxes, stationary items like pencil, rubber, scale etc. Some gifts carrying little financial value but a lot of meaning and perspective while the others carried a lot of both.

The last day was the best part of the Theme “We Share Because We Care”, as the 52 children along with their teachers were invited to IIPM Campus Delhi. Prof. Rohit Manchanda (Dean-center for HRD, IIPM) was the guest of Honor for the day. Students had fun with these kids by playing dog and the bone and by making the children participate in the dance session. Then later these kids were motivated to sing poems that they have learnt. These little children were also served grilled sandwiches by Salad Chef. In return, the kids showered their love upon us by gifting their hand colored greeting cards.

Finally, we bid farewell to them by wishing them good luck and handing over all the gifts that were solely purchased for them. We hope that this event was as memorable for them as it was for all of us.
