ACM GIDF organizes an SHG inauguration ceremony in Guna, Madhya Pradesh

‘Together we win’ is not just a word of wisdom in rural India – with the remarkable success of the SHG movement as a socio-economic tool of transformation, the importance of pooling resources and capabilities for common welfare has assumed a whole new significance.
Our pan-India SHG projects concentrate on empowerment of women as a tool of social development. The approach is multidimensional, covering economic, political and social aspects. This stems out of the realization that, for real empowerment, besides upgraded income-generation skills, women also need to take part in the decision making process.
Over the years, we have working on several SHG related projects, one of them being the recently formed groups for paper bowl & plate manufacturing in district Guna, Madhya Pradesh. An inauguration ceremony was conducted in Raghogarh block on the 14th of May 2012. The event was attended by the officials from GAIL (India) Ltd, the supporting partners of this programme.
In all 10 Self Help Groups were invited, out of which 7 groups were presented with 7 manual machines whereas 3 were given away an automatic machine. These members are now being trained in making paper bowls & plates, alongside being linked with local vendors who buy their products.
