GREAT INDIAN DREAM FOUNDATION
Karmani Hite is a combination of two Sanskrit words; ‘karmani’ means in action and ‘hite’ means in welfare work. So the phrase Karmani Hite means to work for the social welfare.

Dear Friends,
Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Great Indian Dream Foundation (ACM GIDF) welcomes the readers of the February 2008, issue of Karmani Hite. GIDF is glad to share its account of social initiatives across 11 states in India with people having social interest and those who dream of making India an educated, healthy nation, free of poverty and its human indignities.

Cultural Education via Festive Celebration

Republic Day, Makar Sakrant and Pongal were celebrated at programme centers of GIDF with the view of educating children about the importance of festivals of all religions. Kite flying, flag making, group singing, quiz on festivals and other such fun activities were organized wherein children from all age-groups participated in great spirits, shared the feeling of togetherness and realized the significance of festivals in one’s life.

Improving Means of Livelihood of Rural Communities
In the month of January 2008, our Madhya Pradesh chapter in Guna district has formed seven new SHGs namely Radha, Sahyog, Bajrang, Ram Janki, Kamdhaenu, Thakur ji and Geeta in Raghogarh Block taking the number of SHG under ACM GIDF to a whopping one hundred and above. Going by this fact and number we have become the first civil society in Guna district to have the highest number of SHG’s under its direct reach and assistance. Apart from uniting the rural people especially women in the form of SHGs there is also an attempt to make the process more profitable for these women folks and help them understand the proper functioning of an SHG as well as linking them with microfinance.
