Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Great Indian Dream Foundation (ACM GIDF) welcomes the readers of the February 2008, issue of Karmani Hite. GIDF is glad to share its account of social initiatives across 11 states in India with people having social interest and those who dream of making India an educated, healthy nation, free of poverty and its human indignities.
 
Year end Festive celebrations of Eid, Christmas and New Year

Eid, Christmas and New Yearwere
celebrated in full spirits at GIDF centers in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalooru, Pune and Kolkata. Cultural programmes, singing, dancing and drawing were organized to orient children about the purpose of celebrating these festivals and the importance of sharing happiness together.
And the best hospital in India at District Level is…
GIDF has been associated with the District Hospital, Guna with the responsibility of cleanliness of the hospital premises and its vicinity. Safai Mitrs are the people entrusted with this work. Considering hygiene to be a very important aspect of one’s health, clean and tidy environment also works towards improving the physical as well as mental well being of the patients. GIDF has also showed its commitment by providing infrastructure to the hospital such as hospital beds, etc. As per our efforts, the quality of work in the hospital has improved and it has been honored with the Best Hospital Award at the district level by the State Government .
 
Awareness camp on Dental Health for Children

A Dental Health Awareness Camp was organized at PP Garden and Karunanidhi Nagar on December 29, 2007 in the Chennai chapter of GIDF wherein 42 children took active part. Children were informed about the importance of oral health and dental hygiene.

children about milk teeth and permanent teeth, the correct way of brushing, reasons for cavity and importance of brushing twice a day. Moreover, Dr. Gupta conducted dental check ups, diagnosis and gave individual advice to the children.

Empowering livelihood of Rural Farmers
Under the umbrella of programs working towards improving the livelihoods of farmers in Uttar Pradesh, GIDF Team had associated with the farmers to run a modern project on poultry farming. This was to act as an example to other farmers to earn money from their homes. The chickens are ready with an approximate weight of 1.25kg to be sold. If sold at Rs.45-55 per kg, the money collected can be utilized towards building livelihoods of the farmers.
 
Building strength of Self Help Groups in Madhya Pradesh
With the objective of empowering women by linking them with micro finance, GIDF formed 16 new Self-help Groups (SHGs) in the villages Laadpura, Gidiya, Khiriya, Chodakhedi, Narauni, Palika bazaar and opened new bank accounts of 11 SHGs. The process of dividing the SHGs into clusters has also initiated with the view to transform them into a federation. In addition, 38 meetings were held with various SHGs in the last month.
