| A School a week campaign! |
We at ACM GIDF firmly believe that besides health, education is the only asset that a nation can provide to its citizens. Despite the low cost involved in providing education at the primary and secondary level, the current trend in India is not impressive and the vision of a literate India, seems difficult to be realized. Taking forward the task of making India entirely literate ACM GIDF is glad to Inform its supporters and all the concerned citizens of India about the launch of the
‘A Week a School Campaign’ which aims to establish 52 schools around Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore in the year 2007-08. To know more about this campaign and contribute kindly visit www.gidf.org or write to us at care@gidf.org |

| Building blocks of success for Women groups: Project Sakhi |
Last month ACM GIDF’ s Madhya Pradesh chapter successfully established 30 new SHG’s in the villages of Kakvasa, Raghunathpura, Naroni, Bhulaya, Vijaipur and Palika Bazaar, taking the total number of SHGs under the Sakhi project to 65. Our aim would be to introduce these SHGs to the concept of a federation and finally club these SHGs into a federation.
The Guna district of MP, local Government institution selected one of our SHG to participate in National level- Swarojgar Mela, which was held in New Delhi. Beside this, the government also provided them Jute material to sell in the Mela and announced to donate 15% of the total profit to the selected SHG itself. This fair was organized from 12th to 26th of September in Delhi Haat. It was a unique exposure for our SHG members which not gave them a great platform to prove themselves and also helped to boost them immensely their confidence level.

| National Nutrition Week |
ACM GIDF’s works closely with underprivileged children in providing them education, through its various initiatives. Dealing with is a complicated task and when they come from uneducated parents, the job of the teacher and educator becomes more responsible and challenging.
Some recent studies in India have reveled that almost 39% of the Indian child population is malnourished or lack prime nutritional requirement, necessary for proper mental and physical growth of the child. During the ‘National Nutrition Week’ an initiative of the Government of India, ACM GIDF organized a seven day training workshop from 1st September 2007 to 7th September 2007, for all its Educators located in Delhi. The Idea was to build the capacity of the educators and teachers who in turn can advice and guide the parents of the children about better nutritional needs of the child and the harmful affects of nutrition deficiency.
The workshop was attended by almost 15 educators from Delhi and various resource persons from the Food and Nutrition Board of India, gave their valuable lectures and organized orientation sessions. The week long program was very fruitful and went a long way in developing the knowledge of the teachers about various nutritional requirements of a child and the affect of nutrition deficiency. |
