AUROBINDO CHAUDHURI MEMORIAL
GREAT INDIAN DREAM FOUNDATION
Karmani Hite is a combination of two Sanskrit words; ‘karmani’ means in action and ‘hite’ means in welfare work. So the phrase Karmani Hite means to work for the social welfare.

A School a week campaign!

We at ACM GIDF firmly believe that besides health, education is the only asset that a nation can provide to its citizens. Despite the low cost involved in providing education at the primary and secondary level, the current trend in India is not impressive and the vision of a literate India, seems difficult to be realized. Taking forward the task of making India entirely literate ACM GIDF is glad to Inform its supporters and all the concerned citizens of India about the launch of the
‘A Week a School Campaign’ which aims to establish 52 schools around Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore in the year 2007-08. To know more about this campaign and contribute kindly visit www.gidf.org or write to us at care@gidf.org

The New computer centre in Dadri is providing a course on basic computer application to youth in the age group of 15 years and above. The course is approved by the Jan Siksha Samiti , Ministry of Human Resource Development. Currently 20 boys from the community are enrolled and emphasis is given on enrolling girl students aswell.

Infotainment
Adolescent reproductive health is a crucial base of good health in the adult years of one’s life. ACM GIDF operates one Adult education centre in Bandar in Mumbai, in order to promote awareness on reproductive health among adolescent girls. To make the adolescent girls more expressive in discussing adolescent reproductive health issues, a warming up session in form of screening of the movie titled ‘Aarmaan’ was conducted. The movie was screened on 25th June 2007 and many girls viewed the movie which helped them gain knowledge on various issues of reproductive health.

Being a part of the Signature Campaign
With the massive population growth, and increasing gap between the rich and the poor, education is clearly a way to meet the challenges posed by unemployment, poverty and hunger. Right education at the right age can go a long way in holistic development of an individual and society at large. The right to education bill was introduced in the parliament in 2005, which clearly states that the state shall endeavor to provide early childhood care and education until the age of 6 years, and makes it imperative to improve the present delivery system of elementary education by, inter alia, greater decentralization of its management, and making it sensitive to the needs of children, especially of those belonging to disadvantaged groups.

ACM GIDF, whose one of the core activity is to promote and provide education, was a part of the signature campaign, organized by Maharashtra Rajya Shikshan Hakka Abhiyan on 1st and 2nd of June 2007. Various activities like leaflet distribution for creating awareness on Right to education bill, Poster and banner display, slogan and song singing and signature collection were organized. Nearly 5000 signatures were collected, which will be submitted top the Chief Minister of Maharashtra demanding that the bill should be made into an act The objective of the campaign was to disseminate information on Right to Education Bill 2005 and to create awareness about free and qualitative education for all.

Promoting health; building healthier societies.
Awareness generation on HIV / AIDS issues.   Jagruti – Promoting reproductive child health.
HIV/AIDS related issues have always been in the forefront when it come to ACM GIDFs core area of activity.

The HIV/AIDS programs supported by ACM GIDF have the inherent objective of containing the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS through integrated responses that promote gender equality, poverty reduction and good governance.

Taking this initiative ahead ACM GIDF organized a awareness camp in the Guna District of Madhya Pradesh on 11th June 2007, in association with the District hospital of Guna. The camp targeted Patients, Hospital Visitors and the general public and provided IEC material , referral services and counseling services.

ACM GIDF lays a special emphasis on the promotion of maternal and child health and gives importance on improving neonatal care at all levels including hospitals, homes and community so as to reduce the infant mortality rate. It also aims at universalizing immunisation, ante-natal care, skilled attendance during delivery as well as common childhood ailments. Infectious diseases, malnutrition, maternal and prenatal infections which account for most of the cases.

Currently the RCH program is being run in 52 villages of Madhya Pradesh and in the month of June our female facilitator provided RCH training to the 154 animators who belong to various different villages. In total it was twelve days training which was divide into four steps of three days session each. The training was provided in association with local, government health institution and UNICEF. Similar such capacity builing training sessions will be conducted over a period of next five months.
Creating opportunities for a better tomorrow

ACM GIDF promotes and support the cause of the marginalized section, and have constantly endeavored to provide them with livelihood options, the only aim of which is to uplift them in the socio-economic strata and empower them to lead a dignified life. GIDF, Uttar Pradesh, in June successfully managed to arrange an order for constructing 100 school benches from the Gram panchayat of Dibiyapur, Auraiya, which was linked to the GIDF run carpentry training program. The beneficiaries were benefited through the money they earned and the real learning exposer.

Expanding our reach   Providing infrastructural support.
ACM GIDF established two new vocational training centers, in Dadri and Gurgaon respectively on 10th and 28th June respectively. The centers will primarily focus on cutting and tailoring courses approved by Jan Siksha Samiti, under the ministry of Human Resource Development. The students are mostly ladies above the age group of 15 years who after due training will be linked up with a handicraft unit run by ACM GIDF to provide them with sufficient work, that will help them earn a living. Poultry farming is a specialized business where eggs and meat form the main source of earning, but involves the expensive process of feeding. To provide an opportunity for unemployed and economically weaker section of the society to earn their livelihood through poultry farming, ACM GIDF is constructing two poultry farms in the village of Dev Rai Ka Purva in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh. The villagers will be provided with appropriate training in poultry farming practices on completion of which the newly constructed farms will be handed over to the villagers.
Healthy environment for a healthy nation
Providing safe drinking water
We believe that without safe and pure drinking water, the vision of a healthy and developed India cannot be realized, and keeping this in mind ACM GIDF has initiated various environment up-gradation programs. Safe drinking water is still a major problem in the rural part of India and increasing water scarcity has just worsened the situation. To meet up to the needs of these villagers ACM GIDF installed a water cooler on 30th June in the Bharsula –Dongar road for providing safe drinking water to the villagers and surrounding community.
