GID CLUB
Living To Put Up A Smile
The GID club at IIPM has been formed wherein students get a chance to believe in self –actualization. This is where they work to make a difference in the life of others. The kind of activities we take up requires uncommon dedication to strive for social reform and that is exactly what the members of this club excel at.
Our first event for the year was organized in the Delhi campus on the 13th of February, 2012 and was coined as – Living To Put Up A Smile. Where our motive was to bring about a smile on the little cherubic faces that otherwise don’t have many reasons to smile. ACM GIDF, the foundation behind this club has been implementing various programmes in the field of education, livelihood, health & environment. Through its educational initiatives, they have been working for the welfare of children belonging to the vulnerable section of the society. Therefore we had invited the pre-schoolers to the campus where the IIPM students had organized a fun day for them and let love spread with the vote of humanity and peace, on the eve of Valentines Day.
The event started with the children being welcomed to the venue with balloons. Refreshments prepared by the students itself was distributed amongst our little guests. An interactive session on Origami was conducted by Prof. Angshuman Paul followed by a play performed by the students. The first play was about a donkey and his animal friends while the next was about Charlie Chaplin, Mickey Mouse and baby elephant who taught the children a lesson on following the path of truthfulness.
The children seemed very excited and happy during the whole event and even actively participated in all the games like sack race, hit & drop, spoon race and tug of war that were organized for them. Most of the students also seemed attracted to the tattoo station where they got beautiful designs made on their wrists. Even the music played during the event like the title track of Mowgli and others rhymes etc. perfectly matched the theme of the event. Lunch was served to the children which also included a small quiz competition. The day was called off once the prizes were given away to the winners and gifts were distributed to each and every child as a token of appreciation on behalf of the students. Not only that, hand made gifts items were presented to the teachers who has accompanied the children on that day.
